BOB Hotels — a new wallet-friendly concept in the boutique hotel industry — is slated to debut this month in the capital city.

It stands for "Boutique On Budget." Located at 1695 Capital Circle N.W., the site was formerly a Sleep Inn & Suites and the new two story-hotel includes 78 rooms with king and double queen-size beds.

"The whole concept is elevating that budget stay for people," said Janis Krums, one of several partners behind the project. "So we kind of saw that there's a lot of downtown properties that get upgraded but the roadside budget stays are really limited and, a lot of times, lacking in just the basics."

He said cleanliness and safety are key pillars of the customer experience guests will experience at the BOB hotel while also "creating that boutique atmosphere as well." From its quirky art and furnishings, the hotel's modern decor hits a high note on achieving a modern feel.

Room rates range based on the month or weekend, particularly football or homecoming events for Florida A&M and Florida State universities. As of June 28, bookings for the month of July ranged from $75 to $106 per night and $91 to $411 in October.

Krums said the target opening date was slated for June 26 but got pushed back due to minor construction delays. The hotel now hopes to open by mid-July. Future plans could call for the brands expansion to other cities, such as Jacksonville.

"It really stands out as far anything in the budget space," Krums said.
