Yes, bring the dog. Dogs are welcome at BOB for $55 per night. If you're driving I-10 with a dog in the back seat, we're right off the interstate, with free parking on site.

How it works

  • The fee is $55 per night. Let us know you're bringing a dog when you book, or call (850) 201-1700 with any questions first.
  • Smoke-free property. Every room, every day, which your dog's nose will appreciate.
  • Arriving late? Self check-in and a front desk staffed 24/7 mean you can roll in after a long drive without waiting around.
  • Feeding time. Every room has a mini fridge for wet food or leftovers. There's no microwave in the room, but there's a guest microwave by the Marketplace.
  • Breakfast for you. Free continental breakfast: waffles, eggs, fruit, cereal and juice. The Café is open 24 hours for coffee before the morning walk.

Off-leash dog parks

Tallahassee has four public off-leash dog parks. One is on our side of town.

  • J. Lee Vause Park, 6024 Old Bainbridge Road. Leon County's 1.5-acre dog park on the northwest side, with room for small and big dogs, a drinking fountain with a dog bowl, a log tunnel and jumping hoops. Open sunrise to sunset. This is where we'd go first.
  • Tom Brown Park, east side. The City of Tallahassee's dog park sits inside a nearly 300-acre park east of Capital Circle SE, between Mahan Drive and Apalachee Parkway. Open sunrise to sunset. Worth the drive across town if you want trails and open fields too.
  • Apalachee Regional Park, 7550 Apalachee Parkway. Two acres with separate large and small dog areas, shade structures, rinse stations and a dog agility course.
  • Bradfordville Dog Park, 6808 Beech Ridge Trail. The county's biggest at 13 acres, on the north side of town.

Leon County and the city post rules at each park entrance. Read them before you open the gate.

Packing for a dog on the road

A few things make a hotel night easier for a dog. Bring their own bed or blanket so the room smells like home. Pack a towel for muddy paws after a trail walk, and keep a copy of the rabies certificate in the glove box. A long walk before you head out to dinner helps everyone settle in.

Leashed walks closer to the hotel

  • Lake Jackson Mounds Archaeological State Park, 3600 Indian Mounds Road. Pets are welcome on a hand-held leash up to six feet. The Butler Mill Trail is a 0.8-mile loop past old ceremonial mounds and through the woods. There's an entrance fee, and hours are 8 a.m. to sunset. The boardwalk to the large mound has been closed, so check floridastateparks.org before you go.
  • Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park, 1275 Miller Landing Road. More than 10 miles of shared-use trails where leashed dogs are welcome. You'll share them with bikes and the occasional horse.

The local rules

Outside the off-leash parks, City of Tallahassee law requires dogs to be under direct control, which in practice means a leash, and to wear a rabies tag. In city parks, dogs stay off ballfields and playgrounds, and you pick up after them. Bring water in warm months. Tallahassee heat is hard on dogs, even in October.
